EVENT: 'GDPR - TURNING A BIG CHALLENGE INTO AN OPPORTUNITY'
In 2016 the EU adopted a new, more stringent set of data protection regulations titled the General Data Protection Regulation – GDPR; these will come into effect from the 25th May 2018 and the UK Government has already stated that they will be retained after Brexit. The new responsibilities these regulations put on companies over and above existing data protection regulations are significant and fines are potentially huge – the higher of 4% of global turn-over or 40m euros.
As well as creating the need for significant implementation activity impacting almost every part of a modern organisation, these regulations will have significant ramifications for testing activity. Most companies have been taking a risk-based approach to using real data for testing purposes; the new regulations come down hard on this and with a new, more vigorous enforcement regime a new approach is needed.
This session will discuss GDPR, its implications and how companies can turn the need for compliance into a potential opportunity.
